Haris Biskos is an architect and urbanist based in Athens. His work explores contemporary aspirations and contingencies of urbanism through design, research and action. Haris has been drawing on Athens as an urban laboratory to develop urban innovation prototypes addressing a range of challenges that emerge today in cities. He is an international city expert working with Urban Innovative Actions initiative of the EU and a consultant to the City of Athens Development Agency on urban development and EU projects. His office is currently involved in range of actions concerning climate adaptation, cultural heritage, data driven policies, sustainable tourism and others working in collaboration with local governments or independent organisations. In the past Haris had been the head of synAthina collective where he worked for over 5 years with the Vice Mayor for Civil Society and Innovation of the City of Athens to develop a systematic mechanism for the City to engage with grassroots initiatives and community actors to shape its policy agenda and plan actions. Haris has taught urban design as adjunct professor at the University of Patras, School of Architecture. He holds a Master in Architecture from Harvard University, Graduate School of Design (M.Arch II) and a Diploma of Architecture from the University of Patras in Greece.
